Uncertain
Cautious //Reluctant //Apprehensive

We feel hesitant when there’s something we know we should do or accept, but we don't feel like it.

Hesitant
Cautious //Reluctant //Apprehensive
Hesitation buys us time to assess threats and costs before committing to anything. It helps us reduce errors in judgement and it allows us to make safer, more informed choices.
Good Ideas
  • Define the task or decision
  • “Is this driven by values or fear?”
  • Ask, “What’s the real risk here?”
  • Break it into the tiniest steps
  • List best, worst, & likely outcomes
  • Try a small, reversible trial
  • Set a five-minute timer, just start
Bad Ideas
  • Stall endlessly to over-research
  • Assume only the worst will happen
  • Say no to all new opportunities
  • Say yes while planning to ghost
  • Let big emotions make big choices
  • Distract yourself constantly
  • Let others decide so it’s easier
